Johannah Kaspick Buie

HARRISBURG, VA. - Johannah Kaspick Buie, 85, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
Johannah spent her early years on a farm in Wetmore, Texas outside San Antonio, where she was born at Ft. Sam Houston. During WWII she lived in various places in the northeast as her father was frequently transferred to manage logistics to the European Theater of the conflict. After the war, they moved back to San Antonio, where she finished school before moving to Fort Worth. There she attended TCU and met the man whom she married, Eugene Buie. They raised their family of three sons in Tarrant County until Gene was called to ministry at a church in Vienna, Virginia, where they served the Lord for 15 years. Upon retirement they located to Harrisonburg, Virginia, to live out the conclusion of there 60 years together.
Johannah's first job was as a graphic artist for the Vidaway company in Fort Worth in the 1950s. While her college studies were in English education, she decided to forgo a career in teaching and focus on raising her children. With her sons grown, she worked as the secretary for Starpoint School on the campus of TCU. This was the most enjoyable job she ever described having. Upon her and Gene's relocation to Virginia, she worked as secretary for Future Business Leaders of America for years until her retirement.
Johannah loved our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was prayerful and a servant in the church since she was old enough to take on responsibilities. Teacher, servant of most events and their preparation, choir, ministry and minister's wife. She and her family had a long history in the Methodist, Lutheran and Disciples denominations.
An artist at heart taking many forms, Johannah regularly put her talents to work raising her boys, productions for church and her own pleasure. Painting, ceramics and stained glass were her favorites.
