John E. Abraham, age 90, passed away on March 7, 2025. He was born September 22, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Sliman and Ann (Scalise) Abraham.
John devoted much of his life to youth sports, serving as a longtime high school basketball official and commissioner for CYO youth sports. He also worked as Activities Director at Parmadale for over 40 years. His passion for mentoring young athletes and his love for sports made a lasting impact on the community.
John was a man of great faith, deeply devoted to his family and his church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. Known for his quiet demeanor but warm and friendly nature, he made friends easily and cherished the time he spent with loved ones.
Some of John's greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, teaching his grandchildren to play poker, enjoying a good game of Yahtzee, Go Fish, or Spoons, and vacationing at the beach. His kindness, humor, and unwavering faith will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 39 years, Maureen (Snyder); and his siblings, Joseph, Edmund, Lucille, William, and Norman. Left to cherish John's memory are his children, Mark (Gwen) Abraham and Beth (Drew) Poling; and his six adored grandchildren: Laney, Wyatt, Addyson, John, Laura, and Robert.
The family will welcome guests from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Colette Church, 330 W. 130th St, Brunswick, Ohio. John will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.

I worked with Mr Abraham for 20+ years. He was a very kind, dedicated and caring man. Religiously sound. He ensured all activities and events for children and staff were top notch. He was very professional in all his endeavors. Job well done Mr. Abraham.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family's loss. John added much goodness to the lives of many. I met him when he was a house father at Parmadale while I lived there in the 60s. Later, I served with him on the Parmadale Alumni Association and picnic committee, where he held a leadership role. He is pictured with the committee at our final meeting at Parmadale in 2018. "Mr. John" as we knew him, earned the admiration and respect of many, leaving a positive impact that lives on.
