John Fred Acker

John Fred Acker born September 29, 1943 to May 5, 2024 (80) is survived by his wife, Wendy Lynn Acker, his daughter, Jaclyn Acker Garland, son-in-law Brian Garland and his four beloved grandchildren, Matthew Acker Jr., Eli, Mitzi, Goldie Garland and great grandchildren Kasen Ryan Acker and Ryland Matthew Acker. He is preceded in death by his sons Matthew Alan Acker and John Fredrick Acker and granddaughter Chiara Acker. John was a very strong man, in every way–strong willed and physically strong. He continued mowing the lawn until his final days at home. He suffered a major stroke. He was known for his striking handle bar mustache (that he's had since the bicentennial of America that he began preparing for in 1973). The mustache also was a knock to his department manager at Western Electric that demanded their department no longer have facial hair - at which point he and his fellow colleagues clearly rebelled. John was born on a farm in Windsor, MO and graduated from Windsor High School. He worked at Western Electric and all its affiliated companies including AT&T and Lucent his entire career. He was an engineering associate in machine and tool design; product engineering and wafer preparation for semi-conductor memory chip technology. John enjoyed mowing lawns, was an avid golfer, Fox News lover and Solitaire champion in his retirement. He was a great story teller and my favorite quote of his that is plastered on the walls of his home to this day are "Your ass is grass and I'm the power lawn mower." He was strong willed to the end. He had lofty goals and remained stoic yet positive. It would be an oversight not to mention his two beloved Corvettes (1965,1975). John truly exemplified the traits of a "Boomer" and was a true, honest, loyal and strong man in every way. He was loved and will be missed.
