John J. Ahern, III

John J. Ahern, III, age 81 years, died on April 29, 2021. Raised in National Park, John graduated from Woodbury High School in 1957. He lived in Westville for many years before moving to the Riverwinds section of West Deptford in 2014. John served in the US Navy from 1958-1962. He retired from the Philadelphia Naval Yard where he was a draftsman and estimator. He was a member and lector at Most Holy Redeemer Church. John was also a member of the Colonial Manor American Legion Post #100. Next to spending time with the love of his life, Faye, his favorite hobby was attending his grandchildren's events where he befriended all in the bleachers and enjoyed thorough post game analysis. He always appreciated a great story and could tell many of his own. John was an avid reader and this only enhanced his skill on family game night, during debates and the lively discussions he delighted in. He was honorable in every pursuit and was truly a man of integrity.

He was predeceased in 2017 by his wife of 54 years Faye (nee Patton). Survived by his children Eileen (Ray) Schillinger, Kathleen Wurster, John (JoAnn) Ahern, grandchildren Cameron and Alec Schillinger, Morgan and Grant Wurster, Alison and Bridget Ahern, and siblings Margaret Ahern, Michael Ahern, Kathy (Ken) Ahern-Haynes and Helen Ahern-Gamble. He was also predeceased by his sister Anne Penny.

Friends may greet the family on Saturday 9-11am in the Budd Funeral Home, 522 Salem Ave. (Kings Hwy), Woodbury, NJ. Words of Remembrance will be at 11am.
