John Carl Alsaker

John Carl Alsaker, age 53, born April 21, 1972, departed on January 8, 2026.

John spent decades as a skilled carpenter, taking pride in honest work and the satisfaction of building things meant to last. Outside of his trade, his heart belonged to "the pond"-the family cabin on Lake Mille Lacs-where he found peace, connection, and contentment in nature and companionship.

John leaves behind a legacy of friendship that is impossible to overlook. He was deeply loved by many and found fulfillment in lending a helping hand, offering his time, skills, and presence without hesitation. His kindness was practical and sincere- something felt more than spoken.

He is survived by his mother, Kay Alsaker; his brother, Jeremy (Kirsten) Nelson; his nieces, Lindsay Alsaker and Cassandra (Brandon) Van Den Hemel; his great niece Elliotte Butter; and many other beloved friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Alsaker; his biological mother, Ginger Nelson; and his brother, David Alsaker.

The funeral service will take place on January 27th at Westwood Church in Excelsior, MN and a celebration of John's life will be planned for later this year.
