Richard Dale Alsaker, age 76, of Waunakee, WI passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. Richard (Rick) was born on April 16, 1949, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Rolf Alsaker and Carol (Adams) Alsaker of Saint Louis Park, MN.
In 1972, Rick married his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Cheryl (Steele). Together, Rick and Cheryl had four children and made happy homes for their family in Minnesota, Maryland, Virginia, and finally Wisconsin.
Rick found great pleasure in spending time with his family, listening to classical music, traveling, off-roading, and within his profession as a veterinary pathologist.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother and father, and father-in-law: Calvin Steele. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, their four children: Richard Matthew (Kirstin) Alsaker, Jeremy (Sarah) Alsaker, Robert (Nicole) Alsaker, and Kristin (Chad) Linden, eight grandchildren: Jessica Alsaker, Taylor Alsaker, Erik Alsaker, Colton Linden, Kit Alsaker, Weston Alsaker, Beckett Alsaker, and Jacoby Alsaker, as well as much extended family.
Rick’s family will be honoring his memory with a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, they ask instead for a donation to be made in Rick’s name to Dane County Humane Society at 5132 Voges Road, Madison, WI 53718.
