John E. Anderson Jr., 75, a longtime resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2025, at home.

Born April 11, 1950, in Long Island, New York, he was the beloved son of the late John E. Anderson Sr. and Jeanne M. Sharp Anderson.

A 1968 graduate of Lakeland High School, he built a long and distinguished career as a Master Electrician, dedicating over fifty years to IBEW Local #3.

On June 27, 1981, in Shrub Oak, he married his wife, Linda. Mrs. Anderson survives at home.

John is also survived by his three daughters, Yvonne M. Morrison (Dan) of Woodstock, Illinois, Eileen M. Bridenbecker (Brian) of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and Linda-Jeanne Anderson (fiancé Stephen Allen) of Wappingers Falls.

In addition to his wife and daughters, John is survived by six cherished grandchildren-Luke, Dillon, Cole, Savannah, Jacob, and MacKenzye.

John's passions were many and varied. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, a devoted gardener, lifelong New York Yankees fan, and lover of music.

A pillar of the Masonic community, he served as Master of Beacon Lodge and held key positions / memberships with Monumental Lodge (Tivoli), Warren Lodge (Clinton Corners), Shekomeko Lodge (Pleasant Valley), Triune Obed Lodge (Poughkeepsie), and Tri-Po-Bed Grotto (Poughkeepsie). His dedication extended further as Past District Deputy of Columbia County and Past AGL and Staff Officer of Dutchess County. He also was an advisor and long time supporter of the RH Meyer Assembly of the International Order of Rainbow Girls in New York.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial visitation will be from 3 to 6Pm, Saturday, Sept. 13th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Masonic services will take place at 5 pm during the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to The Masonic Brotherhood Fund 71 West 23rd St., Suite 1519 New York, NY 10010.
