John Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.
John Herbert Anderson, a cherished member of the Peshtigo community, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at Rennes Health Center West. Born on June 7, 1942, son of the late Herbert & Irene (Zimmerman) Anderson, John's journey was one marked by dedication, service, and the joy of teaching.

John, a proud graduate of Peshtigo High School in 1960, went on to further his education at UW-Stout, where he earned his degree in Industrial Arts in 1965. His passion for education led him back to his roots, where he devoted over 30 years to teaching at Peshtigo High School. As an esteemed teacher of drafting and woodworking, John also took on the role of a driver's education instructor, guiding countless students not only in their academic pursuits but also on the roadways of life.

In 1979, John's entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he opened Anderson's Family Restaurant, which continues to be a beloved establishment in the community, now known as Peshtigo Coral. His commitment to his hometown was further exemplified in the 1970s when he became an active member of the Peshtigo Jaycees, and later, in the 1990s, when he served as a Peshtigo Alderman, always striving to make a positive impact on the town he held dear.

John's legacy is carried on by his loving family, including his son, Steven (Dana) Anderson, and his nieces, Mary Branch and Ann Hooper.

Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and John Kollath.

As we remember John we reflect on a life well-lived, a life filled with purpose, education, and community service. His influence will continue to be felt through the many lives he touched, both in the classroom and beyond pillar of the Peshtigo community but also a beloved teacher.
