John P. “Jack” Baalman, 81, died Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was born to Frank and Sally (Murphy) Baalman on September 3, 1943. Jack grew up on the family farm close to Grinnell, KS. He attended school in Grinnell, graduating with the class of 1962. After graduation he attended college at Fort Hays State. After one year of classes, he enlisted in the United States Army. He spent most of his three-year tour in Okinawa. After the service, Jack returned to Kansas and worked in farming. In 1969, he moved to California where he worked for Delta Airlines until his retirement. He then returned to Oakley, KS.

 

Jack was preceded in death by his wife Karen, his parents and brothers, James, Robert and Thomas.

 

He is survived by his daughter Samantha Baalman; sister Rose (John) Koggie; brother Dan (Pat) Baalman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A memorial service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell, KS, with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Cemetery and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
