John F.
John F. Babl, age 98, went home to be with his precious savior on the morning of January 6, 2024. He was surrounded by family as he left his earthly home and transitioned to his heavenly home.
A lifelong resident of Plum Borough, John was well-known and well-liked. He was raised on his family farm in Plum Borough. His parents immigrated to America from Germany. John enjoyed farming and continued the tradition of gardening into his early 90's. As part of the "Greatest Generation" he served in the U.S. Navy in WW II.
He lived his life as an example to his children and grandchildren, modeling respect for elders, charity, and a deep committed faith to the Lord. With his background in electronics, he was able to repair almost anything. He also enjoyed cooking and would try different recipes for his family and friends. He continued to be active and fiercely independent into his mid-80's, fixing things around the house, mowing his lawn, and often cooking dinner.
In the 70's John met the love of his life, the late Joan Babl. Blending their families with their marriage, they raised 7 children in a committed Christian home. John and Joan were not only parents of 7 children, but grandparents and great grandparents of a total of 90 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A member of St. Albans Church in Murrysville, John leaves a legacy of Christian service, which is now carried on by his children: Susan (the late Daniel) McCormick, John (Patricia) Babl, Linda (Kevin) Rump, Beverly (Alan) Kell, Vivian (Larry) Doyle, Jenny (Bob) Petrina, and Scott (Angie) Roese.
Thank you, "Turkey", for all you have taught us and all you have sacrificed for us. We love and will miss you until we see you again someday.
Friends received, Wednesday, 2:00 pm-4:00 pm & 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Soxman Funeral Homes, Ltd./Roth Chapel,7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road) Penn Hills, where a Service will be held, Thursday, 11:00 am. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
