John R. Barnes, 82, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025. He was born June 27, 1943 to the late Henry J. and Dorothy R. (Hafley) Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane K. (Bair) Barnes.
John found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a lifelong love of woodworking, where he took pride in creating pieces that blended craftsmanship with care. A passionate coin collector, John appreciated the history and stories behind every coin he found. He also had a green thumb and spent many peaceful hours in his garden. John cherished staying in touch with old friends, valuing those lifelong connections deeply. Above all, he loved spending time with his family — his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren — who were the true center of his world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Yvonne Gamble and Andrew Barnes; and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nathan Gamble. He is predeceased by his brothers, William J. and Robert A. Barnes.
