It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Anthony Barrera, a beloved husband, stepfather, Abuelo, son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. John left us on October 25, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.
John was a man of remarkable kindness and strength, whose love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had an extraordinary ability to uplift those around him with his warm smile, sense of humor, gentle spirit, and unwavering support. As a husband, he was the true love to Kimberly, his wife of 29 years and a best friend who always put the needs of his family first. As a stepfather, he embraced his role with an open heart, creating bonds that transcended traditional family ties.
As the youngest of 6 boys, he was extremely fortunate to be raised in a home full of love and affection, learning from each brother valuable lessons he relied on through his life's journey. John was a true confidant, always offering a listening ear and wise counsel. He cherished his role as Abuelo, showering his grandchildren with love, laughter, and valuable life lessons that they will carry with them forever. His legacy of love and kindness will live on through them and all who knew him.
Throughout his battle with cancer, John displayed extraordinary courage and grace. He faced each day with a smile, never complaining about his struggles. Instead, he focused on comforting and encouraging those around him, demonstrating that true strength lies in lifting others up, even in the face of adversity.
John will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us to live with the same compassion and love that he so freely shared.
Rest in peace, dear John. Your light will continue to shine brightly in our lives.
