John Edward Barrett, a devoted husband and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, in Jacksonville, North Carolina, at the age of 75. Born on March 13, 1950, in the state of New Jersey, John was a man whose hands skillfully crafted and repaired, leaving behind a legacy of love and mechanical ingenuity.

Throughout his professional life, John dedicated many years as a Supervisor at the Water Department. In his personal pursuits, he was known for his exceptional mechanical abilities, particularly his passion for automobiles. He found joy in working on cars, especially when tinkering with his wife's cherished '86 Monte Carlo, a testament to his talent and devotion.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Barrett and Alice Hulse. He is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Michelle Hugo Barrett, along with many beloved family members residing in New Jersey. Their love and support were a constant source of strength and happiness in his life.

Though he has left this world, John's family and friends in New Jersey will gather to celebrate his life, with details to be announced at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home is honored to assist John's family during this difficult time, ensuring that his memory is cherished and remembered.
