John Robert Bartlett, 89, passed away on October 13, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 2, 1935, in Appleton, Arkansas, to Opal Bartlett and Evelyn Bartlett Browning. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family. He
After graduating from North Little Rock High School in 1953, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1954. During his Naval service he also received his Law degree from Arkansas Law School. After discharging from the Navy in 1960 he joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Upon concluding his service with the FBI, he left government and began a long and fulfilling career in Insurance. He began work at State Farm Insurance as an adjuster and after a 35-year career, he retired as an Auto Claims superintendent.
Throughout his life, John’s priorities remained steadfast. He loved his wife, Nancy Asbille Bartlett, and they spent 70 wonderful years together. He always placed family at the center of his life.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, John was a man of various interest, he had a passion for drag racing and a fascination for classic cars. These passions led to a life of adventure with he and his beloved wife traveling the country racing, and sight seeing. His enthusiasm for life was evident in every facet, as he enjoyed creating memories with his family.
John is survived by his wife Nancy Bartlett, a daughter, Terri Posey (Phil), and a son Tim Bartlett (Claudia). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Justin Robert Bartlett (Paige) and took great joy in watching his family grow, embracing the blessings of two great-grandchildren, Adeline and Holt Bartlett. He leaves behind a sister Frances Bird of Cabot Arkansas.
In lieu of Flowers the family would like for donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Mississippi.
