Robert Dempsey
March 4, 2024
My name is Bob Dempsey. We lived in Endwell New York up until 1964. We were very close to the Bevan family. Our families both attended p.m. church in Johnson City. After moving to New Jersey we continued to stay in touch. We were visiting my grandparents in Binghamton the weekend. Mr. Bevins had a heart attack while mowing the lawn. We stayed for the funeral. My mother was a very dear friend of John`s mother, June. And the Williams family. 1970 we moved to Manassas Virginia. John and Billy both came down and visited us a number of times. He was the funniest guy I ever knew I have numerous stories, while growing up with those guys in my life. Very saddened to hear of John´s passing. We would see John occasionally later in life. Coming back to Binghamton to visit grandparents. Shocked when Billy passed away. So young. We would also go to Pocono Mountain Bible camp Together. You always wanted John in your cabin because he was the life of the party. We were at their house, in Vestal, one day when he put a quarter stick of dynamite under a metal trashcan, and blew out the bottom as it spun around, like a buzz saw. He put us in the trunk of a car to get into a drive-in movie. He always called his cousin Susan Susie Sun buns. The last time we saw John was visiting in Binghamton for my aunts funeral numerous years ago. After that we lost touch.. I would like to talk to anyone that could fill me in on what John was up to in his later years.. you could reach me at 703-597-9559. On behalf of our family we send our condolences. We found out through a cousin who lives in the Binghamton area. On a sidenote. We lost my brother Jack two years ago, hopefully they are together in heaven as we speak. God bless, Bob Dempsey.
