John Franklin Blackford of Sunbury, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on Thursday, September 18, 2025. He was the son of the late Ralph A. Blackford and Dorothy Buckel Blackford born on September 2,1945 in Piqua, Ohio.
John is survived by his children, Norma (Bill) Stepp, Carolyn (Wes) Clark and John Blackford; grandchildren, Sam Stepp, Michael Stepp, Jason (Nicole) Clark, Jennifer (Matt) Brooks, Tyler (Danielle) Blackford and Lexi Blackford; great-grandchildren, Bennett Brooks, Emily Brooks and Keagan Blackford; sister-in-law, Janet Blackford; brothers, Jerry Blackford, Jim Blackford, Janet (Mickey) Wayne and Joanne (Rick) Miller along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 39 years, Faith Blackford; brother, Joe Blackford; and sisters-in-law, Mary Blackford and Virginia Blackford.
John was employed by Anheuser-Busch Columbus Brewery when it opened in 1968 and retired after a 32-year career. John enjoyed gardening, golf, and later restoring numerous vintage Cushman scooters. Nothing brought John more joy than spending time with his family in his own back yard.
Calling hours will be held at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel, 637 North State Route 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074 on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. as well as Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 11:00am-12:00 P.M. Immediately following Pastor Frank Luchsinger will officiate a Memorial Service. Interment will follow at Sunbury Memorial Park, West Cherry St, Sunbury, Ohio.
