Mansfield – Helen Dye, age 87, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born December 23, 1937, in Russell County, Virginia, to parents Carl and Mary (Compton) Keene. Helen built a life rooted in love, family, and simple joys.
A gifted homemaker, Helen delighted in flower gardening and was especially talented at arranging cut flowers to brighten her home. She had an eye for beauty and creativity, which showed in her passion for interior decorating. Though she was a bit of a homebody at heart, Helen enjoyed spending time with friends-whether gathered together for visits or out at karaoke nights where she loved the fun and laughter they shared. Above all, her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.
She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother Nana and friend whose gentle spirit and warm presence blessed all who knew her.
She is survived by son Doug (Sherry) Dye; grandson Shannan Dye; granddaughter Angie (Jeremy) Gayheart; great-granddaughters Chloe and Rylee; brothers Bob (Martha) Keene, Ferrell Keene and Raymond (Edna) Keene; sister-in-law Pat Keene as well an extended family.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband LD Dye; brothers Dale Keene and Bufford (Judy) Keene; sister Jerlene (Dallas) Price; sister-in-law Linda Keene.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 4-7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Chapel of Snyder Funeral Home. She will be placed to rest in Shauck Cemetery alongside her husband at a later date.
