Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Home, Bellville Butler Chapel on Oct. 22, 2025.
BELLVILLE: Norma Lucille Shrader, age 89, of Bellville passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.
She was born October 10, 1936 in Ft. Gay, West Virginia to the late Calvin and Cordy (Blevins) Damron and was raised with eight siblings.
Norma was a woman with a strong work ethic and an unshakable faith in Jesus Christ.
A homemaker she dedicated her time and talents to keeping her home and raising her family of six children. A neatnik, she kept everything tidy and organized inside and out including the yard and flowerbeds. She loved flowers including roses and marigolds but her favorite was creeping flox. She took pride in making sure her home looked welcoming. When her husband and children retired home from school and work there was always a home cooked meal for dinner, and oh what delights she made! Their favorites included spaghetti with homemade meatballs and chicken and dumplings. Norma was also an incredible baker making bread, cookies, and pies as well as candies and peanut brittle. She was also a self-made handy woman fixing things around the house- a literal domestic engineer before the assistance of google or AI. When her work was finished she enjoyed quilting, making many blankets for her family as well crocheting by the wood burning stove in her home.
Norma was a faithful attendant of Honey Creek Baptist Church and was a strong believer in the Word. There, she found her church home with her brothers and sisters in Christ and enjoyed weekly worship when she was able to attend. Her favorite book in the Bible was Psalms, especially Psalms 23 and 91 which talks of the Lord's protection. She prayed for God's strength daily and she was grateful for her home, clothing on her back and food in her belly. She never took her blessings for granted.
Norma will be remembered as outgoing, hardworking, unselfish and honest. She was an independent firecracker who instilled in her children the love of the Lord and value of hard work.
She is survived by her three children Rhonda and Ted Deremer, Kenneth "Dwayne" and Edna Adcox, and Mary Roberts; grandchildren Ryan Adcox, Abbey Deremer, Samantha Deremer, Rodney Dayton, Jaclyn Dayton, and Christopher Dayton; 15 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dwain Shrader in 2007, two sons Christopher Adcox and John Adcox; daughter Shelly Adcox; and granddaughter Brook Adcox.
Friends may call Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 1-2 pm in Honey Creek Baptist Church (294 Honey Creek Road E. Bellville), where the funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Pastor Paul Staton will officiate and burial will follow in Zion Four Corners Cemetery near Butler.
