John Joseph Blanchard, 55, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on June 19, 2025, at home surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with metastasized stage 4 colorectal cancer.
John was born on February 4, 1970 in Carmel, New York, the son/daughter of Donald and Priscilla Blanchard (Nichols).
John graduated Valedictorian from Germantown Central High School in 1988, then went on to SUNY New Paltz, earning a degree in English Literature. Next he completed the Computer Science courses at Western Connecticut University, without conferring a degree. He completed his Masters in Accounting at the University of Phoenix in 2014.
John married Maria Hase [Dommerich] on August 29, 2024 at Superstition Manor in Mesa, with Pastor Michael Long officiating. Maria and John have no children of their own. John is survived by Maria’s son, Luke Hase.
John worked as a Supervisor of Chemical Production at ATMI, as a Process Technician at Free Scale, and then as a Financial Processor at Vanguard. John was the recipient of a Manufacturing Excellence Award for the Most Significant Manufacturing Contribution in Q3 2014 at Freescale.
He also received the Quality Champion Award in August 2011 at Freescale. John especially loved the Yankees and Fantasy Baseball. Capt. Awesomest was his team name. Growing up he also played baseball. His position was catcher, but he occasionally played pitcher. You never knew where a baseball was coming from though as John was ambidextrous.
John was a member of Dayspring United Methodist Church. He volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family Promise, and the Neighbor Program at Aster Empowered Aging. John also served in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan. He was on the Finance Committee at Dayspring.
Favorite memories of John include his intelligence and humor. John was soft-spoken and humble; he made his family laugh every day.
Remaining to cherish John’s memory are Maria Hase, wife; her son, Luke Hase; brother, Donald Blanchard, Jr. (Sunshine Blanchard); sister, Priscilla (Dyan) Blanchard (John Servider, Sr., partner); niece and nephews, Allyson Servider, John Servider, Jr., and Colin Blanchard; and grand-niece, Gabriella Servider. John was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Priscilla Blanchard.
