John Lee Blassingame Jr., 77, passed away Saturday April 5, 2025 at Accent Care Hospice in Naperville, surrounded by his loving Family. He was born October 10, 1947 in Chicago; son of John Sr. and Rebecca (Hames). He proudly served In the United States Army where he achieved the Rank of Sergeant. John was in the Paratroopers division and he was based in Vietnam. After the service, he was a truck driver and warehouseman for several supply houses for over 20 years. John enjoyed basketball, being a great multitasker, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lawanda, a daughter; Casandra, 2 sons; John III (Brandi) and Justin. 7 grandchildren; John IV, Alex, William, Christopher, Aaron, Isiah, Leilani and Elijah. 10 great grandchildren; Jayce, Jayana, Marleigh, Jenesis, Jaceon, Jace, Ma' Kai, Xavier, A.B. and Ja'vy. 2 brothers; Muneer (Phylis), James (Valarie) and a sister; Myra (the late Floyd) Jordan. John is preceded in death by his parents. Family will be receiving guests Friday April 18, 2025 from 11am until time of service at 1pm at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway in Montgomery.
