John Ronald Bohannon went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, July 25, 2025. Ron was born on March 14, 1939 to Woodrow and Jim L Bohannon in Frederick, Oklahoma. After graduating from Frederick High School, he attended Oklahoma State University, where he graduated with a degree in animal husbandry. On June 11, 1961, he married his sweetheart and life partner, Judy Holloman, and they were blessed with two daughters, Gay and Cindy. Ron's life reflects a God-driven legacy that he and Judy built, nurtured, and lived to see expand beyond the scope of their lives and their years. While Ron pursued a career in farming and ranching, he began teaching a Sunday school class for youth at the Frederick First Baptist Church. He soon saw a need for a men's ministry. Starting with five young men, who either had fallen away from, or never knew God, Ron led a 'Barn Ministry' at 5:30 in the morning, talking about scriptural applications of what it meant to be a man, husband, and dad, along with many other transformative topics. Later, Ron and Judy moved to Atlanta, GA, initially working in trailer maintenance for Brown Transport before launching his own construction business. He served as general contractor for homes and buildings across the metro area. He also made a trip across the country to build restaurants for Chick-fil-A. As a member of the Jonesboro First Baptist church, Ron founded a 'Biker's Ministry', working with men who were fairly removed from either God or the church. Once again by relying on the Holy Spirit, he led 'unlikely' men to saving faith. Ron and Judy 'retired' to Sulphur, OK, or so they thought. As a member of the First Baptist Church, Ron was asked to take on a building project that transformed a former Walmart Store into a house of worship known now as Crossway Baptist Church. In addition, he went on mission trips to help build churches in Brazil, Romania, Cambodia, Peru, and Africa, leaving a lasting legacy in his service to God. His personal legacy to his family is equally rich. Loving survivors include Judy, his wife of 64 years; Daughter Gay Freeland and husband Ron, their children Daniel Freeland, John Freeland, Rachel Gray and husband Matt, and great-grandchildren Carson and Clara; Daughter Cindy Geis and husband Mark, their children Ryan Geis, Mallory Squires and husband Kade; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Jim L, and granddaughter Mattie Geis, who is now greeting him in his eternal home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to Crossway Baptist Church, 2108 W. Broadway St. Sulphur, OK 73086. Arrangements made under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.

We only met Ron a couple years ago, on one of his regular "neighborhood patrols". He would always wave, and often stop so we could chat about whatever while he sat in his truck and mostly made us smile. He was a sweet and thoughtful man, easy to like. Wish we had the chance to know him better. Stop by anytime, Judy. You have our prayers for strength and grace during this tough time.
