John Thomas Bone, known affectionately to many as Buddy, Paw, or Dad, passed away on August 6, 2025, at his home in Wonder Lake, Illinois, at the age of 83. Born on June 8, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late James Edward and Earlene (Jacques) Bone, John's life was marked by his courageous spirit and unwavering faith.

John married the love of his life, Janice Leidy, on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1978, and together they built a life full of love and laughter. His devotion to Janice was evident in every aspect of their life together, and their partnership was a true testament to love's enduring power.

A dedicated family man, John is survived by his cherished wife, Janice Bone; his siblings, Patricia Miles and William Bone; his loving children, Sherry (Cecil) Evans, Mary (Gary) Ferrell, John Michael Bone, Chad (Lorraine) Bone, Jeremy (Mandy) Bone, and stepson Bryan Walley. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Rebecca Miracle, Nokie Miracle, Jackie Parker, Amber Ceska, Crystal Kennedy, Frank Ferrell, Kourtney Pennington, Laken Bone, Taren Bone, Liberty Bone, Cole Bone, Thea Bone, Hunter Bone, and Tucker Bone. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Martha Christian, Doris Stines, Paul Bone, James Bone, and stepdaughter Shannon Walley.

John's professional life was marked by a successful career at ITT Bell & Gossett in Morton Grove, Illinois, where he retired after 38 years of dedicated service. His colleagues remember him not only for his work ethic but also for his ability to bring warmth and camaraderie to the workplace.

Throughout his life, John's character was defined by his courage, faith, and love. His strength was never more apparent than in his battles with cancer, where he demonstrated an unyielding resilience and an unwavering trust in the Lord. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence, providing comfort and guidance to him and his family through the toughest of times.

John's interests included fishing, the Tennessee Volunteers, telling stories, spending time with his loved ones, traveling, watching westerns, and reading his Bible. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories passed down through generations and in the countless lives he touched with his kindness.

John's family will hold a ceremony to celebrate his life and honor his memory. He will be laid to rest in Ringwood Cemetery.

John Thomas Bone's journey on earth may have concluded, but his spirit and the impact he made on those around him will continue to resonate for eternity. He was a pillar of strength and a source of unconditional love. His life was a testament to the power of faith and the love of Jesus.
