John Vincent Bowling, known affectionately to friends and family as Vince, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023, in Menifee, California. Born on February 9, 1953, in Maywood, California, Vince lived a life filled with kindness, humor, and a deep love for the outdoors.
He always said how thankful he was to have had a wonderful childhood. He grew up in Anaheim when it was mostly comprised of orange groves. He spent much of his time playing with his friends and sisters in the orange groves, using his imagination, climbing trees, and having a ball. He later was on the varsity wrestling team at Katella High School and after graduation he went on to Cal State Fullerton.
Vince was a respected figure in his professional life. He followed in his father's footsteps learning the skilled trade of a tool and die maker. He later became an important part of the management for Universal Alloy Corporation in Anaheim. His meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to his work were admired by his colleagues and superiors alike. He invested into the lives of his coworkers giving them words of encouragement and wise advice.
Vince had a deep passion for the outdoors. He was an enthusiastic hunter and camper, always seeking new adventures and experiences in the natural world. Above all, Vince was an avid fisherman. He found great joy in fishing, whether it was in saltwater or freshwater. He loved to bring a friend along and camp out in nature, wake up early the next morning and find the perfect spot to cast his line. His numerous fishing trips to Bishop, California, were some of his most cherished memories and were the basis for many of his fishing stories. Vince's love for the outdoors was infectious, and he often shared his experiences and knowledge with those around him.
In his personal life, Vince took great care of his parents, proving to be a loving and devoted son. He enjoyed traveling with them and was always ready to lend a hand.Vince is survived by his sisters, Gale Bricka and Victoria Maxfield, and his nieces and nephews, Holly Schmidt, Matthew Bricka, Allison Wheeler, Wyatt Bricka, Billy Maxfield, and Katherine Krause. His love and care extended to all members of his family, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Vince was also known for his great sense of humor. His ability to bring laughter and joy into any situation was one of his most endearing traits. He was a master storyteller. His fun-loving nature made him a joy to be around, and his jokes and stories will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
John Vincent Bowling was a man of many virtues. He was loving, kind, and funny. His dedication to his work, his love for the outdoors, his deep care for his family, and his infectious humor made him a remarkable individual. His loss will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Vince's memory will continue to inspire those he left behind.
