John Joseph Brennan, age 76, of Broomfield, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a 9 year long battle with cancer.

John was born on April 22, 1948 to John and Esther Brennan in Chicago. John’s family then moved to Rolling Meadows while he was in high school. John remained in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago until 2017, working at United Airlines for nearly 40 years.

In 1989, John met his future wife, Karen, while working at United. John and Karen were married in 1991 and had three cherished children, Jack, Mary, and Emily.

Not embracing Chicago’s winters, John encouraged his children to attend college in Colorado, hoping they would remain in this beautiful state after graduating. In 2017, John and Karen then followed their children to Colorado, embarking on a new chapter in their lives. John loved the mountains. Every opportunity he had he would sit on the back deck of his home enjoying the beautiful view of the Rockies.

In addition to loving everything Colorado had to offer, last year John completed his other dream of having an “Irish Pub” built in his basement, better known as “Brennan’s Irish Pub.”

With his quick wit and infectious humor, John was always the life of the party, bringing laughter and joy to those around him. His warm smile and genuine kindness endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen Brennan, their children, Jack Brennan, Mary (Paige) Brennan, Emily (Christian) Ramos, daughter Jennifer Brennan and her partner, Heather Hanselmann, his much-loved grandchildren Will and Ellie Brennan, brothers Rick (Vicki) Brennan, Jim (Stephanie) Brennan, and Mike Brennan. In addition to his immediate family members, John is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and a multitude of close friends who will forever cherish his memories.

John was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, John and Esther Brennan, and his cherished mother-in-law, Mary Ann Lawlor.

Although John may have left this earthly world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved and in the countless lives he touched. May his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, knowing that you were loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed.
