John Briggs Obituary
John I. Briggs, 67, of Marion, passed away Thursday, April13, 2023 at McDowell Hospital.
John was born in Hickory, NC on December 24, 1955, to the late Henry I. Briggs and Ethel Mae Frisbee Briggs. He was a member of West Marion Baptist Church. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved riding motorcycles and watching auto racing. John was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Briggs; five children, Jonathan Briggs (Nikki), Jeremy Briggs (Beth), Dustin Martin, Eric Walls, and Katie Whelchel (Michael); a sister, Brenda Mace (David); a niece, Stephanie Jamie Harklerode; a nephew, Riley Logan Harklerode; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
