BRIMLEY, John "Jack" Richard - Age 89, of Flushing, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at McLaren Flint. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM, Monday January 22, 2024, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Ruth VanderSande will preside with burial following in Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, January 21 and again on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of service Monday. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Swartz Creek Historical Society.
John was born on July 19, 1934 in Swartz Creek the son of the late Willard and Onalee (Roska) Brimley. He graduated from Swartz Creek Mary Crapo, class of 1952. John proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. He worked as a credit analyst for Citizens Bank for 39 years before his retirement in 1996. John and Rita were united in marriage on March 31, 1979 in Williamston, Michigan. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Flushing and the Swartz Creek Historical Societies, the Flushing Senior Center, former member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church, and currently attending the Flushing United Methodist Church. In his free time, John enjoyed traveling and spending the last 24 winters in Tucson, Arizona. He loved golfing, bowling, playing Euchre and running his Lionel trains.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Rita Brimley; children, Roger (Ann) Brimley, Walter (Wendy) Brimley, Christine (Mark) Leech and Susan (Karl) VonBrockdorff; grandchildren, Shanna (Josh) Anderson, Nathan (Melanie) Witt, Brianne Witt, Ashley (Phillip) Smalley, Asher VonBrockdorff, Alexandria Leech and Nichole Leech; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Nolan Anderson; several nieces, nephews and close friends.
