John "Robert" Brown, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. Born on December 25, 1939, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to John Amos and Anna Pauline (Patterson) Brown, Robert lived a life filled with dedication, love, and cherished memories.
Robert grew up in Tulsa, where he received his education, culminating in a graduation from Central High School. He furthered his academic journey at Tulsa University, laying a foundation that would support his professional endeavors. His career was characterized by commitment and service, as he spent twenty years with the First National Bank of Tulsa, followed by eighteen years as an associate at JC Penney, from which he eventually retired. In addition to his roles in banking and retail, Robert also served as an RPA for the Real Estate Association, showcasing his versatility and dedication in various fields.
On August 14, 1959, Robert married Glenda Chandler, and together they built a life rich with love and partnership. They made their home in Tulsa until the year 2022, when they relocated to Skiatook. Throughout their marriage, Robert and Glenda fostered a nurturing family environment, raising two children: Robin Wright and her husband Mike, and Robert Brown and his wife Cheri. His legacy now continues through his seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, who will always remember him as a guiding presence in their lives.
Robert was not only a devoted family man but also a person of varied interests. He took great pleasure in watching sports, always keen to cheer for his favorite teams, and enjoyed camping, finding solace and joy in nature. His laughter and kindness touched the hearts of many, creating bonds with friends, relatives, and neighbors throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda of 65 years, of the home; his children, Robin Wright and husband Mike, and Robert Brown and wife Cheri; his sister, Virginia Kay Howerton; his brother, Bill Brown; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John Amos and Anna Pauline Brown, and his sister, Doris Jean Brown. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered for his contributions to his family and community, leaving behind a rich legacy of love and kindness.
