John Bruce Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bearden Funeral Home - Dawsonville on Jan. 21, 2026.
John Wayne Bruce, 63, of Dawsonville, passed away January 19, 2026.

He was born April 18, 1962, in Cumming, Georgia to the late Donald and Imogene Bruce. Wayne was retired and of the Baptist faith. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and truly loved doing anything and everything with them, even something as simple as waiting for the school bus in the afternoons. John loved his family more than life itself. Wayne was so proud of his sons and daughters-in-law. He often said he was "double blessed." He loved being outdoors-on the lawn mower or the tractor-and enjoyed what he called "piddling" in the shop. He found joy in shooting his guns, playing golf, and driving his beloved 1948 Ford truck that his dad had restored. Above all else, he treasured time with his family. He and our two sons could spend hours talking about nothing at all, and it filled his heart completely. He will be deeply missed every day. His wife's heart is broken into a million pieces, yet she will always feel blessed to have called him her husband.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Charlotte Gunter, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Barbara Brock.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Tammy Bruce, Dawsonville, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Mike Savage, Gainesville, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Gunter and Maleesha Bruce, Dawsonville, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, James and Erica Snyder; grandsons, Kayson Bruce, Dawson Bruce, Hudson Snyder; granddaughters, Kayden Waters and Bella Butler all of Forsyth County; father-in-law, Larry Gunter, Royston, Georgia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vickie and Stoney Ervin, Toccoa, Georgia, Andria and Len Cleveland, Bowersville, Georgia, Jamie and Michelle Brock, Cleveland, Georgia, Rhonda and Dale Kennedy, Bethlehem, Georgia, brothers-in-law, Anthony Manning, Duane Manning, Dooly Manning, Gainesville, Georgia. He is survived by several aunts and uncles whom he loved dearly and who loved him in return. Wayne also loved and cherished all of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, each of whom loved and adored him. He shared a special bond with every one of them.

Memorial services will be held Friday, January 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Richard Picklesimer and Ricky Lee Thomas will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00p.m. until the service hour.
