John Brumbaugh, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away on December 16, 2024, at the age of 77. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a pillar of the Libby community.
He was married to his loving wife, Henriette Brumbaugh, for 52 wonderful years. Together, they raised eight children and were blessed with 25 grandchildren. John Brumbaugh cherished spending time with his family, whether it was watching them participate in sports, plays, and concerts, or joining them in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and picking huckleberries.
Born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, John Brumbaugh graduated from the University of Montana in June 1969 with a degree in elementary education. He furthered his education with a master's degree in classroom teaching from Gonzaga University in 1977. His teaching career spanned over four decades, from 1969 to 2010, during which he inspired and educated countless students.
John was also an avid sports enthusiast. He served as a referee for football, basketball, and volleyball. He coached little league baseball, junior high basketball, volleyball, and track, sharing his passion for sports with many young athletes.
John Brumbaugh leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and inspiration. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John Brumbaugh is survived by his wife Henriette Brumbaugh and eight children Robin (Berk) Hendricks, Lloyd (Emily) Brumbaugh, Holly (Jeremy) Thompson, Thomas (Janette) Brumbaugh, John (Liz) Brumbaugh Jr., Leslie Brumbaugh, Kelli (Mike) Duthrie, and Richard Brumbaugh. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2056 U.S. Hwy 2 W) in Libby, Montana. John was a good friend and a good man and have many good memories of him and his family but I have to say that there was one thing that bothered me me about him. He and I were both huckleberry hounds and he would never give up HIS secret spot
