John Billy Buchanan, 96 of Lancaster, Tx passed away peacefully, surrounded by his faithful wife of seventy-two years and beloved daughters at his home on November 5, 2024. Born February 4, 1928, to Newton Marcellous Buchanan and Minnie Eliza Brice Buchanan in Trenton, Tx.

John Billy was raised in Texas, but his journey took him to many different states. He married the love of his life Edith Irene Neal Buchanan and shortly afterwards felt the call of God in his life. They moved to Tupelo, MS in 1954 to attend the Pentecostal Bible Institute, where he graduated and went on to a lifetime of ministry with the faithful love and support of his wife. His next move after graduation was to Newcastle, Indiana where he assisted Pastor Milton Buller at the G Avenue United Pentecostal Church. He labored there until 1966, when he felt called to Pennsylvania. In 1967 he accepted the invitation to pastor the Apostolic Gospel Church, Hollsopple, PA. He continued to Pastor there for twenty-nine and a half years until retiring. Upon retirement he returned to his beloved home state of Texas where he enjoyed a wonderful retirement life with his wife of seventy-two years.

While pastoring many friendships were forged and many lives changed. He was well known and respected in the community. He also served as the District Secretary for the Pennsylvania United Pentecostal Church International.

John was a hard-working family man who also worked as school bus driver and later as rural letter carrier for the USPS and retired there after fifteen years of service.

John served in the United State Air Force Ground Unit from 1946-1947 with honorable discharge and disability status. He loved the United States of America and was honored to serve his country.

His daughters, Meladene, Marta Gail and Marcia were three of his greatest joys. He was teased often that Marcia was his favorite, he only answered with a smile. He was an extremely caring father who went out of his way to lavish love and care for his daughters. Their close relationships with their daddy lasted until his last breath.

Along with the joy his daughters brought him, his grandchildren - Amber, Jon, Jarad, Janna, Justin, Lamont, Miki, Timothy, George, Karli, Destiny and Amy Rose, as well as his great grandchildren - Eliott, Christian, Allison, Liliana, Alexander, Benjamin, Abigail, Savannah, Adonijah, Zy'ir, Elysha, Keystyn, Zara, and Paisley were truly the apples of his eye.

He was the youngest of ten children and was beloved by his entire family. In fact, they thought John Billy could do no wrong.

John Billy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Henry Donald Buchanan, sister Ruby Buchanan Fullbright, sister Virginia Buchanan Davis, sister Tommie Buchanan Lever sister Leona Buchanan Marvin, sister Sceloustine (Sally) Buchanan Sinor, sister Francis Buchanan Cherry, brother Newton (Buddy) Buchanan, sister Minnie Jo Buchanan Pugh.

Visitation will be held at the Wayne Boze Funeral Home, Waxahachie, Tx on Friday November 15, 2024, from 12:00-2:00 pm with funeral service immediately following.
