John J. Buckman "Jack" 62, of Hasbrouck Heights, formerly of Jersey City and Bayonne, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024. Born in Jersey City to the late Anne (nee Stuart) and Joseph A Buckman. He was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City. Jack was a theatrical teamster for the Theatrical Teamsters Union Local 817 in Great Neck, NY. Beloved husband of Sonya C. (nee Castellucci) Buckman. Devoted father of Joseph Buckman and his wife Jenna and Bridget Buckman. Dear brother of James Buckman and his wife Patricia, Mary Ellen Lissenden and her husband Kevin, Patricia Opel and her late husband William, Elizabeth Johnston, Jeanne Jamolawicz and her late husband Paul, and Robert Buckman. Loving grandfather of Reid. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jack enjoyed his nightly bowl of ice cream, mastering Jeopardy, reading countless books of various genres, solving New York Post and Daily News crossword puzzles and cherishing moments with his grandson. He was incredibly hardworking, always putting in long hours and giving his best efforts in everything he did. Despite his busy schedule, he managed to fill our lives with fun and laughter, making every moment enjoyable. His loving nature was evident in the way he cared for and supported his family through thick or thin. He was also fiercely loyal, always standing by his family and friends no matter what. His quick-witted humor never failed to bring a smile to our faces, and his ability to make light of any situation made him an unforgettable presence in our lives.
Funeral from Costa Memorial Home Boulevard and Central Avenue Hasbrouck Heights on Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Liturgy from Corpus Christi R.C. Church 260 Boulevard in Hasbrouck Heights at 10 AM. Private cremation will follow. Visitation Thursday from 4 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
