John was born on September 22, 1949 to Frank Burke and Zella Knill in Carlsbad, NM. He married Cynthia Lakin on December 20, 1996 in Clovis, NM. He worked as a nurse at the hospital. John enjoyed working with leather, he made jewelry and rock jewelry, and wood carving.
Survivors include his brother; Jim Burke (Viola) of Mesa AZ, sister; Cindy McDermid (Rick) of Soddy-Daisy, TN, son; Jeremy Lakin of Clovis, NM, daughter; Brittany Chavez (Jerid), stepbrother; Tom Burke of Atlanta, grandchildren; Rebecca Lakin, Lita Burke, Elizabeth Lakin, Aurelia Munoz-Burke, and Jaxon Burke, In-laws; Sharon Crowder (Wes) and Kenneth Tharp (Teri), numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his spouse; Cynthia Lakin, son; Jordan Burke, daughter; Jessika Burke, brother; Freddy Burke, and stepsister; BC Burke.
