John M. Burnette Jr. ObituaryJohn Martell Burnette, Jr., 74, of Bantam, passed away on September 2, 2025 at Danbury Hospital after fighting a courageous battle.
John was born on December 15, 1950 in Danbury, Connecticut, a son of the late John M. Burnette, Sr. and Helen J. Burnette of New Milford.
He was a Psychiatric Registered Nurse working most of his distinguished career for Fairfield Hills in Newtown, Connecticut.
In addition to his parents; John was predeceased by his sister, Lori Rushia and her husband, Paul, of MA; his brother-in-law, Daniel Sharpe of N.H. and his daughter, Kristen L. Burnette of Beacon Falls, CT.
John is survived by his two sisters, Maureen Colby and husband, Hank, of N.H., and Barbara Sharpe of N.H.; two daughters, Carrie Burnette and husband, Kimo Russell of Beacon Falls, CT, and Kelly Burnette of Brookfield, CT; four grandchildren, Zachary Burnette, Logan Russell, Chrystal Sheehan and Xander Dejesus; many nieces, nephews, cousins and his faithful companion, his dog, Buddy Burnette. His family will love him and miss him forever!
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9 at Morningside Cemetery, 21 South Kent Road, Gaylordsville, CT. There are no calling hours. Flowers for the service may be sent to Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield by 10 am on Tuesday for delivery to the cemetery.
