John Burnley III (June 2, 1970 – May 2, 2024)
John Burnley III, a beloved member of the Seattle community, returned to God on May 2, 2024. Born on June 2, 1970, in Seattle, Washington, John was the son of Patricia Burnley (née Doston) and John Burnley Jr. He attended O'Dea High School and later Nathan Hale, where he played varsity basketball alongside his father, who served as the head coach. John's love for basketball mirrored that of his father, and he carried that passion throughout his life.
After graduating from Nathan Hale in 1989, John pursued higher education at Mt. Hood, majoring in education. He returned to Seattle shortly after and welcomed his first child with his high school sweetheart, Shiree, a daughter, in 1992. Music played a significant role in John's life, and he enjoyed listening to artists like E40, Too $hort, and the Big Tymers. All while popping the collar of his polo tee and saying "whoodagame!"
In 2002, John married Jeanine, and together they had two sons in 2003 and 2005. John's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own business, "Big John's Security," which provided security services to nightclubs in the Seattle and South King County area. His infectious smile, jovial attitude, and penchant for cracking jokes endeared him to everyone who crossed his path. John was a fixture at family events, always exclaiming, "Look at the cousins!"
John Burnley III leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of laughter, love, and community spirit. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be reunited with his parents, John Burnley Jr and Patricia Burnley, and close friends Javon and Robert Gibson. He will be remembered by his sister, Adrienne; his children, Ajané, Josiah, and Jordan; the mothers of his children, Shiree and Jeanine; and a host of family and friends.
Rest in peace, JB.
