John Albert (Jack) Caldwell, Jr., 92, of Exeter, NH, died Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Born January 4, 1933 in Baltimore, MD, he was married to Joan Donovan Caldwell for 51 years, and the son of the late Margaret Burns Caldwell and John Albert Caldwell. He was a devoted husband and the finest example of a gentleman. A graduate of Loyola High School in Baltimore, MD, he received a Bachelor's degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. Jack began his career at the family-owned printing company, Universal Lithographers in Baltimore, MD. He moved to New York and opened a sales office for the company in 1969. Universal Lithographers was sold to a conglomerate and in 1976 Joan and Jack moved to Annapolis, MD. Jack went to work for the American Council on Education in Washington, DC. He was Director of Central Services, responsible for the buying of printing and all outside purchasing before retiring to New York City in 2000. The return to New York meant access to ballet, opera, concerts, museums and a myriad of other cultural opportunities. During Jack's 10 years in New York, he was a docent at the Morgan Library & Museum. He was a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church, a Jesuit parish in New York City. In 2010 he and Joan moved to Chestnut Hill, MA. He continued his love of history by signing up to be a docent at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, MA. In 2014 Jack and Joan moved to RiverWoods, a retirement community in Exeter, NH. He is survived by his wife Joan and his two sisters, Margaret Jositis and Mary Celeste Alexander and their families.

There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Michael Church in Exeter, NH on July 31, 2025 at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Exeter Cemetery.
