John D. Calloway, 83 of Blountsville passed away Friday, June 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born December 15, 1941, in Blountsville the son of Lemmie Pickney Calloway and Marie Briscoe Calloway. He was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Detroit, Michigan and retired from Chrysler. He was an ordained minister and last pastored at Mt. Hebron Church of God.
He is survived by his children: Tim Calloway (Trisha), Leilani Leopard and Aaron Calloway (Tammy); grandchildren: Kaitlin Huffman, Jennipher Welch, Maiah Welch, Chance Calloway and Deena Johnson; brother: Dave Hellwege; sisters: Imogene Daniels, Jerlene Waldrop (Harry), Pauline Griffith (Tim) and Josephine Janik. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lemmie Calloway and Marie Hellwege; great granddaughter: Zelma Mae Huffman; siblings: Robert Lee Calloway, Charles Calloway, Roy Calloway, Coy Calloway, Albert Calloway, Lemmie Hubert Calloway and Carl Hellwege.
Funeral Service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Blountsville Funeral Home with Ronnie Cason officiating. The burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Blountsville Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Blountsville Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Chris Calloway, Blake Calloway, Chris Glenon, Kenny Mullins, Dave Hellwege and Kaitlin Huffman. Honorary Pallbearers: Tim Calloway, Aaron Calloway, Leilani Leopard, Gary Janik and Paul LaFevor.
