Donald John Campbell, Jr., age 75, passed away April 8, 2022 from causes incident to age. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 5, 1947, third son of Don J. and Marr Riley Campbell.

John grew up in Bountiful, Utah just east of the old tabernacle, on land that had once been his great grandfather's farm. He attended Stoker School, Bountiful Junior High and then Bountiful High, graduating with the Class of '65. One of the highlights of his life was serving as BHS Student Body President during the '64-'65 school year.

After high school, John was called to the Mexican Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he spent thirty months teaching, proselyting, learning Spanish, and experiencing life outside of the United States. Upon returning home, he attended the University of Utah where he earned a B.A. in History with a Spanish minor as well as a Reserve Officer commission through ROTC. Later,at the age of 40, he enrolled in the Executive MBA Program at Brigham Young University and received a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

While at the University of Utah, John met and married Robin Anderson from Salt Lake's East Millcreek area. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple October 6, 1970 and grew up together, sharing 45 happy years. John and Robin loved having a family and enjoyed raising their four wonderful children, Kristin, Chad, Craig and Katie. In 2005, Robin was diagnosed with cancer and spent the next ten years bravely fighting for her life. She passed away November 30, 2015.

After Robin's death, John was blessed to find a second warm and caring companion, someone to share his final years. While working as a volunteer at Welfare Square, he met Xiomara Rincon of Maracaibo, Venezuela. They were married by their Bishop on August 6, 2016 and, one year later, were sealed together in the Bountiful Temple. John and Xiomara (Xiomy) enjoyed close to six years together as husband and wife.

John wished to thank friends and family for their love and support throughout his life: "Thanks for being my friends."

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 16 at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 990 Chapel Dr, Bountiful, UT. (across the street from Viewmont High School), where a viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 am. There will also be a viewing the night before at Russon Mortuary, 295 N Main St, Bountiful, UT. from 6-8pm.

John was (is) a very dear friend. John showed genuine interest and concern for everyone. After meeting, you were his instant friend. Our daughters have been special girl friends since Farmington Elementary school. My wife and I were close to Robin as well. Everyone knew she was fighting cancer, but to talk to her, you would never know it. Robin was so positive and like John made you feel very important. We miss them both, but know that they are happy together again.

We are praying for Kristin, Chad, Craig, Katie, Xiomy and families. Love the Cooper's

In 2004, our family moved in across the street from John and Robin Campbell, on a Saturday, exactly one week before Christmas. The next morning after we moved in (Sunday morning), I had one more load of stuff to move in. I met John for the first time when he came to the back of our moving van and offered to help us finish moving in, even though it was Sunday morning. Our kids were young, and John and Robin always made sure they were welcomed at their house. John would come up with little chores for them to perform and would then pay them a few dollars, which was very exciting for them. They referred to John as "Campbell," and would announce that they were "going over to see Campbell" like it was a very special event. He was our best neighbor ever, and we were very sad when he sold his home and moved away. My children were all sad to hear of his illness and passing, but we are sure he has successfully passed the test of this life and is well-prepared and ready for the next phase of his life.

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. We developed a wonderful friendship as he was my teller at Zions. He always was so efficient but never failed to be welcoming and warm. We held several life experiences in common as we each had been student body president of Bountiful High School, we both learned Spanish on our Missions to Mexico. He was a fine and kind man and I am grateful to have called him friend.
Heaven is richer because he is there.
God bless him and his loved ones.
