John Francis Caputo passed away on Saturday, August 2 nd, 2025, in
Pearland, Texas, at the age of 63. John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Joan (Grispino) Caputo. Left to cherish John's memory are his loving wife of 37 years, Lisa (Tinkler) Caputo; son, Michael Caputo; and a host of many other family and great friends.
John was born and raised on Long Island, New York. After caring for his mother for 25 years, he, Lisa, and Michael moved to Texas in 2007. John worked in the tile industry for over 20 years, working his way from being a salesperson to a store manager, and all the way to an operations manager. Always known as a hard worker, John would team up with his best friend Kevin Devers to renovate bathrooms on the side. For the last 15 years, John worked as a drafter. John was very mechanical and handy, with knowledge in many trades. He was always one of the best workers in the building, bringing honesty and reliability to any job he worked.
John was an extremely dedicated and protective husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John and Lisa would always check on each other throughout the day, letting the other know when they safely arrived at work, and would call each other at lunch. He loved his son Michael very much and was so proud of him, bragging to all his friends about his drumming and the man he had become. He had a special relationship with his cousin Elizabeth Carofano and a special place in his heart for his Nephew Richard "RJ" Olsak-Finn. His family motto was "good thing we got here when we did"; inspired by the family's habit of arriving at places just before the crowd! Unfortunately, the family also had a habit of finding restaurants they enjoyed shortly before the establishments would shut down.
John had a generous, honest, and caring attitude throughout his life. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or even give the shirt off his back to a stranger. Once, he did just that, giving a homeless person the jacket off his back on a cold winter night! John was a true friend and had tremendous integrity. Although he was always kind and polite, he would not hesitate to stand up for what was right. John was also a great problem solver and believed in process, order, and structure. He loved working on his 1967 and 1969 Barracuda, racing motorcycles or cars, and he even built a trike using a VW engine. He loved building and shooting guns, and was an avid dog lover throughout his life. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John's family will host a memorial service to honor his memory at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland on Sunday, August 10 th, 2025. They will receive guests from 3:00 to 4:00 pm, with the service commencing at 4:00 pm, and a reception to follow.
