Ralph A. Caputo

Ralph A. Caputo, 101, of Belmont passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Alice (Raymond) Caputo. Loving father to Deborah Caputo of Watertown, Richard Caputo and his partner Betsy Brest of Boulder Creek, CA, Janet Leonard and her husband James of Braintree and Leslie Murphy and her husband Paul of Walpole. Dear grandfather to Kimberly O'Connell, Matthew O'Connell and his wife Kelly, Samantha Leonard, Hayley Leonard, Thomas Murphy and John Murphy and great grandfather to Seamus and Quinn O'Connell. Son of the late Louis and Theresa (Giovanniello) Caputo and brother to the late Philomena Caputo, Mario Caputo, Vincent Caputo, Angelina Reppucci, Joseph Caputo and Americo Caputo.
Ralph was raised in East Boston and relocated to Belmont with his family in the early 1940's, after graduating from Boston Latin High School. He began his higher education at Northeastern University, which was interrupted when he enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was trained as a meteorologist and then served in flight control as a 1st Lieutenant at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. Post WWII he continued his education at Northeastern, graduating with honors in math and physics.
Ralph established the R.A. Caputo Company in the early 1960's, successfully bidding and completing city and state projects, which included municipal transportation systems, hospitals, schools and government buildings.
In his retirement years, Ralph dabbled in creative writing and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. An avid storyteller and sports enthusiast, he never failed to astonish with his recollection of facts regarding a memorable game or historical horse race.
Ralph was a man of integrity, wisdom, resilience and faith.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday March 10th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the DeVito Funeral Home 761 Mount Auburn St. WATERTOWN. A funeral mass will follow and be celebrated at 11:30 am in the Sacred Heart Church of Watertown. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
