John Kenneth Carrigan, a proud husband, father, and grandfather, was born on March 4, 1960, in Mason City, Iowa. He passed away after a long illness on December 25, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family.

Throughout his diverse career, John wore many hats, showcasing his versatility and work ethic. He worked as an electrician in both commercial and residential settings, served as a railroad brakeman, sold cars, toiled on oil rigs, drove trucks, and utilized his mechanical skills to fix countless vehicles. This wide array of occupations reflected not just his industrious nature but also his love for learning and adapting to new challenges.

John was a man of strong convictions. Described as both stubborn and patriotic, he was deeply family-oriented, always putting loved ones first. He cherished every moment spent attending the activities of his children and grandchildren, notably their sports events and school programs. Whether cheering from the sidelines or providing guidance, his presence was a source of inspiration for his family.

John found joy in motocross in his younger days, racing to a notable first place in the state in 1976. His passion for sports extended beyond his own pursuits as he dedicated years to coaching wrestling and football, imparting not only techniques but also valuable life lessons to the young athletes he mentored.

John’s pride in his family was immeasurable. He was blessed with a loving wife, Melissa, with whom he celebrated 50 years of togetherness, enjoying 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised four children: John (spouse Jennifer), Nathaniel (deceased), Jeremiah (spouse Paula), and Alicia (spouse Josh), nurturing them with the values and support that they would carry into their adulthood. His four grandsons—Kaiden, Brian, Jayden, Nathan—and five granddaughters—Jennalyn, Jessica, Janessa, Sawyer, and Hailey—brought unfathomable joy to his life. Additionally, John took delight in being a great-grandfather to Kayleigh, each precious moment with her cherished deeply.

John is remembered fondly not only by his family but by all who knew or met him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Norma, and his beloved son, Nathaniel.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on January 23, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro in Denver, Colorado, allowing friends and family to come together in honor of this remarkable man's life. The family will receive guests beginning at 1 p.m., and the celebration of life when stories, laughter, and tears will fill the room, reflecting the indelible spirit of a man who touched so many lives, will begin at 2 p.m.

John Kenneth Carrigan will forever remain in our hearts, a steadfast example of love, resilience, and community. His memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
