John Carulli

John M. Carulli, of Orange, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 14, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Trofimena Carulli. Born in New Haven on September 16, 1941, John was the son of the late John A. and Louise Nardella Carulli.
John graduated from Fairfield University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He dedicated his career to advancing aerospace and defense technologies, serving as an electrical engineer and systems specialist for leading companies including Norden Systems, Northrop Grumman, and Sikorsky Aircraft. His work spanned radar systems, avionics integration, and complex defense programs, where he was recognized for his technical expertise and leadership in systems engineering and project management. John took great pride in contributing to programs that supported our nation's defense, including the C5A Galaxy, A6E Intruder, E8C JSTARS, and VH-92A Patriot.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was a licensed private pilot and an amateur radio operator, reflecting his lifelong passion for aviation and radio-frequency technology. He also had a remarkable mechanical aptitude, restoring his cherished 1967 Mustang and 1966 John Deere 110 tractor. Always ready to lend a hand, he helped friends and neighbors with engine repairs-whether at the marina or in his community. John was admired for his problem-solving skills, generosity, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children: John M. (Rebecca) Carulli, Jr. of Saratoga, NY, Michelle (Peter) Nazario of Branford, and Stephanie (Corey) Deixler of Guilford; and his cherished grandchildren: Madeline Nazario, Peter Nazario III, Johnathan, Olivia, and Reid Carulli, Peyton, Hadley, and Ainsley Deixler.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. John Bosco Parish at St. Mary Church, 731 Main Street, Branford. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
