Publish in a newspaper

Born on July 15, 1952, to Mary F. Stamps and Lewis Chatman, John was a beacon of faith and devotion from an early age. His love for Christ flourished as he became a dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Childersburg, Alabama, where he served faithfully on the usher board and contributed to the kitchen committee, fostering a spirit of fellowship and community that will be long remembered.Throughout his working years, John embodied a remarkable work ethic, leaving an indelible mark at Avondale Mills in Sylacauga, New South Express in Talladega, and Walmart in Sylacauga. His honesty, kindness, and infectious spirit garnered countless friendships, each testament to his character. In his leisure time, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life-tending to his yard, grilling delicious meals for family gatherings, and enjoying classic westerns on television. His laughter and stories will echo in the hearts of those who knew him.John Lewis Chatman, age 73, departed this life on October 9, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family at his home in Alpine, Alabama. John is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Wren and Cressie Davis; his parents, Lewis Chatman and Mary F. Stamps; and his dear sister, Mary L. Chatman.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Nathaniel "Butch" (Ethel) Stamps and his sister, Elizabeth Chatman, both of Alpine. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Darryl Chatman, Tonisha Wells, Tammy Twymon-Coates (Jesse), Carlton Lamont Chatman, and Carmeshia Chatman, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. As we reflect on John's vibrant life and the impact he had on so many, we are reminded of the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord."
- Matthew 25:23. May his soul rest in eternal peace, cherished forever in our hearts.
