After high school, John joined the U.S. Air Force at age 18, so proud to serve his country. John enjoyed his time in the service making memories in Okinawa, South Korea, and various United States bases.

I had the honor of serving with John in the state Elections Division for many years. I will never forget his unfailing kindness, his thorough and diligent work, and his support for the Commonwealth's voters. I only recently learned of his passing, but he and his family are in my prayers.

I met Johnny when I was about 11 years old when he married my cousin Nancy . He was my favorite from that moment on and although he always teased me growing up , secretly I loved every tease . He was a genius on election law and as I grew older I loved discussing Boston and national politics with him . Johnny was, simply put , a good man who loved his wife and his children. He lived his life for his family . May all the good memories last forever. We all will miss you Johnny .
Rest in peace my friend , for you truly lived a good life.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our good friend and neighbor, John. We have over fifty years of memories of the Cloonan family and our family and would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Nancy, her children, grandchildren and relatives. John certainly was a true gentleman and friend to everyone. We are sure that John is now receiving his Eternal Reward that he is so deserving of. Love and prayers, The Cahill Family
