Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southeast Funeral and Cremation Services - Easton from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5, 2025.
John Joseph David "JC" "John C" Cogdell, age 65, passed away on November 23, 2025, at home in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Born in September,1960, in Washington, D.C., John lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his many passions.

John earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and later completed a Master's degree in Applied Management from Lesley University. His professional career spanned over three decades at GTE/General Dynamics in Taunton, Massachusetts, where he served as an Engineering Project Manager for 35 years. His commitment and leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues and the organization alike.

He shared 39 years of marriage with his beloved wife Susan. Together they raised two children in North Easton: Samantha Cogdell and Joshua Cogdell. John was also a proud grandfather to Hayden and Carson, who brought him immense joy.

John is also remembered by Samantha's partner Taylor Williams, Joshua's partner Beth Hostleton, his brothers Andrew (and wife Barbara) and Ted (and wife Maggie); niece Maire Caitlin and her fiancé Peter Ryan; nephews Thomas and Logan Cogdell, Chad Grant and his wife Deona, Jeffrey Grant and his wife Payton, cousin Maureen Holland, sisters-in-laws Elise Chadwick (and husband Michael) and Karen Baseman; nephews Max and Ben Chadwick and their families; nieces Jin and Zulfiya Baseman and his loving mother-in law, Diana Baseman. He also leaves behind his sisters in-laws, Kate Lupo and family, Alix Aguilera and family and mother-in law, Margaret Baseman

He was predeceased by his father Leland Cogdell, mother Rose Adele Cogdell (O'Lone), and sister Margaret Grant (Cogdell) and father in law, Harris Baseman.

A man of many talents and interests, John was known for his sharp intellect, quick wit, and tireless work ethic. He had a deep love for music across all genres-especially the Grateful Dead-and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a concert. A true "Mr. Fix-It," he enjoyed tinkering with projects around the house. John was a die hard New England sports fan, and enjoyed many Patriot and Red Sox games with his family and friends. He also loved traveling with loved ones and spending time in his newly built home in Englewood, Fl. John was a devoted pug dad, he cherished the companionship of his four-legged friends, Jake, Jack and Jill.

John will be deeply missed by many near and far-especially those who knew him best.

Keep on "Truckin"...
May his memory be a blessing to all who mourn his passing.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

John C., Was such a sweet sweet man, and his heart was big, like his personality. If he knew you needed help, he was there. We worked together for over 30 years, and Im so very sad that his life was cut short, he had so much life left to live. Rest easy my friend... I will miss you.

I also worked with John for many years and went with him to a Patriots practice session. John was a hugh Patriots fan and he also liked his in-ground heated swimming pool. I enjoyed talking with him about his interests. I am sad to hear about John's passing and may he rest in eternal peace.

I worked with John for over 30 years and in that time we were more friends than coworkers. I was sad to hear of his passing. May he rest in eternal peace.
