60, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John J. Collins Jr. and Gloria (Travisano) Collins.
Professionally, John was a skilled electrician whose expertise and work ethic earned him the respect of his peers and community.
Beyond his career, John was known for creating a special retreat for friends and family in his own backyard, affectionately named "John's Resort." This personal oasis served as a gathering place filled with laughter, memories, and joy. It was a reflection ofJohn's warm spirit and his love for bringing people together.
John's passion extended to the world of sports, where he thrived as a baseball coach. He dedicated his time and energy to nurturing young athletes, instilling in them not just the skills of the game, but also the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. An avid Boston sports fan himself, he cherished the excitement of the game and the camaraderie it fostered among players and supporters alike.
John is survived by his loving sons, Matthew Collins and his fiancée Emily Richards and Tyler Collins and his wife Sarah; dear siblings, Kevin Collins and his wife Sherri, and Kathleen Collins; niece Sarah Collins and her fiancé Russell Buckley; nephew Travis Collins and his wife Leah.
His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends can arrive beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
