John “Harvey” Conner, born February 18, 1964, devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful pastor, and friend to many, went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2026.

Born to the late Clifford Edwin “Cliff” Conner and Carolyn Darnell Conner, Harvey was raised with strong values of faith, hard work, and love for family—foundations that shaped his life and ministry. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Conner, Marty Conner, and Robbie Conner.

Harvey was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Susan Vinson Conner, and a proud and loving father to Evan Conner (Brittany), Jonathan "Jonny" York (Ashley), Katie Conner, and Anna Conner. He cherished his role as “Papaw” to Preston, Peyton, Briana, Eli, Madeline, Mack, Brooke, and Bella. He also loved his nephew Caleb and niece Maria as his own children. His family was his greatest earthly joy, and he loved sharing life’s moments with them, especially time spent outdoors together.

Harvey was a faithful shepherd, pastoring for over 20 years. He truly loved people, pouring his heart into his church family and walking closely with them through life’s joys and hardships. He was a mighty man of God whose life reflected the love, joy, and truth of Jesus Christ. Through his preaching, prayers, and personal encouragement, he touched countless lives and led many to the Lord.

He was jovial, fun-loving, and happy-natured, with a laugh that filled every room. He never met a stranger and would help anyone in need—truly willing to give the shirt off his back to bless someone else.

Harvey had a wonderful zest for life. An avid fisherman and outdoor enthusiast, he loved camping and spending time in God’s creation. Around family, he earned the nickname “Trout Slayer,” because he could catch fish out of any hole or body of water—and when he reeled one in, you could often hear him joyfully shout, “Whoopee!” Whether casting a line, sitting by a campfire, or enjoying the quiet of the woods, he felt close to God, sharing those moments with his family that he loved so dearly.

He was a great storyteller, passing along fun family tales that will be cherished for generations. He worked hard to keep family traditions alive and was an amazing home cook, creating meals that gathered everyone around the table. His home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Though our hearts grieve his passing, we rejoice in the assurance that he is now in the presence of his Savior, whom he loved and served so faithfully. His legacy of faith, joy, generosity, devotion to family, and steadfast love will live on through the many lives he touched.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
