John Connole Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

John "Jack" F. Connole, 96, of West Hartford, beloved husband of the late Lois (Riley) Connole, passed away quietly in his home on October 14, 2025. John was born May 3, 1929, in Hartford, to the late Mary K. Connole and John J. Connole, of County Clare, Ireland.
Besides his beloved wife Lois, John was predeceased by his sisters, Peggy Allison and Stella Leahy; and his nephews, David Allison and Barry Leahy. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, their children, his cousins in Ireland, and his friends and caregivers at Brookdale Chatfield.
John grew up in the West End of Hartford and attended Weaver High School, after which he studied engineering on a scholarship. He was a graduate of Teachers College of New Britain, majoring in Industrial Arts. Most of his teaching career was at Batchelder School in Hartford for 32 years. John was an Army veteran and saw stateside service at Fort Hood in Texas during the Korean War.
John was a wonderful, quite funny man, and such a storyteller. He loved bike riding, playing tennis, reading, all his many dogs and volunteering in many ways. John's great hallmark in his life was his volunteer work, including mental health organizations, especially the Samaritans and Hospice Care.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude for all the wonderful care that Jack received while at Brookdale Chatfield Clare Bridge and for his care through Accent Hospice Care.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com

John, may your beautiful soul now rest in peace with your beloved wife. John was good friends with Mary and Bud Regan who were our aunt and uncle. They would bring John to our yearly Labor Day picnics where he would indulge in 1 beer, sometimes 2 if my husband brought it to him. It was wonderful listening to his stories and enjoying his company with our family. Mary and Bud are gone now too but we will always remember those days fondly. On behalf of the Arico sisters, RIP John.

Sending our deepest sympathy to John's family and friends.
John was indeed a very intelligent man and a great storyteller.
As children we heard lots about my Mothers first cousin John and his siblings who lived in America. Finally we had the pleasure of meeting John, his sister Peggy and his wonderful wife Lois.
Since then we created a bond which spanned over many years between Ireland and America.
It was a pleasure and privilege to have known John.
May his gentle soul rest in peace.
