John Cox, born October 25, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 19, 2025, at the age of 71.

John proudly served in the United States Army for six years, carrying that same strength and dedication into a respected career as a Journeyman Pipe Fitter with Local 440 of which he has been a member of good standing for 45 years. His work ethic and commitment were evident in everything he did.

What he loved most was spending time with his family and being in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace in nature, and he especially loved sharing those passions with his grandchildren. He taught them how to shoot a bow, fish, hunt, and tend the garden. His family truly lit up his life, and he cherished every moment spent hosting biweekly dinners, cheering at sports games and chorus recitals, and simply being present.

He shared a devoted and loving marriage with his wife, Penny, and together they built a life centered around family. His warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Penny; his son, Jeremy; his daughters-in-law, Sara and Abby; his eleven beloved grandchildren: Katherine, Madeline, Karissa, Paige, Elijah, Robby, Jillian, Jeremy Jr., Morgan, Amelia, and Nolan; his sister, Pat; and his brother-in-law, Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Doris; his brother, Joey; and his infant son, Johnny.

He will be remembered with love and cherished always by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood, Indiana. The service will begin with military honors and a prayer, followed by a gathering of family and friends to celebrate his memory.
