John Craig Obituary
HALFMOON - John S. Craig, Sr., 59, of Halfmoon passed away peacefully on Friday March 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born on June 23, 1964, in Schenectady and was the son of the late James Charles and Jacqueline Scribner Craig. John was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, class of 1982 and the University of South New Hampshire with his bachelor's degree in business. He was the agent for the John Craig Agency of State Farm Insurance in Scotia, working for over 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing and played golf regularly at Van Patten Golf course in the GE Processors golf league. John also enjoyed coaching, but most important to him was the time spent with his family and friends. He is the beloved husband of Kathleen Lynch Craig, whom he married on Sept. 22, 1990. He is the devoted father of John S. Craig, Jr. (Kelsey) of Clifton Park and Cassidy Theresa Craig of Saratoga Springs; dear brother of Pamela Meehan (Dan) of New Hartford, N.Y. and Dr. James Craig (Caren) of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; Godfather to Joshua Craig. Christina Kelley (Ryan) and Nicole Van Zandt (Roland); uncle of Chelsea Maloney (Conor), James Charles Craig, IV and Meghan Winderl (Drew); cousin of Charles Palmer (Nancy) and their children Kristen Strock (Nick) and Sergey Palmer (Mark).
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 971 Route 146, Clifton Park, N.Y. 12065 with Pastor Lee Carlson officiating.
Calling hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday in the church prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern N.Y. Chapter, 1003 New Loudon Rd., suite 201, Cohoes, N.Y. 12047 or to the Parkinson's Research Fund c/o Albany Medical Center Hospital, 47 New Scotland Ave., Albany, N.Y. 12208.
Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9, Clifton Park, N.Y. 12065, 518-371-5454.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to all family and friends of John. I only knew him a short time I sold him his Mazda that he was so happy to get. We talked on many occasions about life, family and a little business as well of course. But in that short time he made a very strong impression on me. We were so shocked to hear this news. John was such a warm, happy and comforting presence in good times and not so good... hey he was THE insurance guy the one you turned to. Always had a great smile and a can do attitude. He will be missed for so many reasons. May you his beloved family find comfort in the many memories you all made with John.

It was such a shock to hear of John's passing. He was our insurance agent for over 30 years. I always looked forward to an office consultation with John. He was such a jovial and pleasant man, always asking about the family. He will be greatly missed. Condolences to his family.

I enjoyed going to his office, sitting down and talking hunting, and our success at. I´ve been with John for over 33 years I am going to miss him.
