John David Crane, 77, of Dunn, North Carolina, passed away on July 31, 2025, in the emergency room. Born on November 26, 1947, in Harnett County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Bay Crane and Catherine Crane.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of SP4 E-4. He entered the military on March 10, 1967, and was honorably discharged on March 9, 1970. His time in the service reflected his dedication, discipline, and willingness to work hard-traits that he carried throughout his life.
A man of skill and precision, John was known for his talent in auto body work, his love of hunting and fishing, and his tireless work ethic. Friends and family remember him as a perfectionist who took pride in every task he undertook.
John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Crane; his son, Johnny Ray Crane; his grandson, Troy Lee Bina, Jr.; and his parents, Bay and Catherine Crane.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Bina of Lillington; his son, Jody Lee Crane, Sr. (Candy) of Oklahoma; His cherished grandchildren are Joshua David Lee Ray Bina (Brittney), Janay Roseanne Harper, Jody Lee Crane, Jr. (Cheyenne), and Ashley Fullbright (Elgin). He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Sophira Bina, Amara Bina, Vada Harper, Jace Crane, Jonaah Crane, Jaxten Crane, Josiaah Crane, Jazmine Sisco, Lilly Sisco, Nova Fullbright, Elena Fullbright, and Maddilynn Fullbright.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
